About me

I am an artist with a particular passion for capturing the effects of light and shade on the landscape and the restless motion of the sea. I also enjoy painting still-life, flowers and the occasional portrait.

As a teacher, I help you explore and interpret the world and your imagination through art.

Having attended art school and gained a diploma in art and design, I took time out to have my three sons. Once they were all at school I started teaching in a Private Prep School in Woking where I taught for 28 years – during this time I have continued with my own work as a painter.

Following my retirement I am now running Saturday art classes for children aged 7 upwards from my home studio, putting my years of experience in teaching into helping children to explore and interpret the world around them and the realms of their imagination through their art.

Literature is also a passion of mine and apart from being a voracious reader I also love to write. Last year I published my debut novel, A Dazzle of Poplars, and I am now, when not painting or teaching, engrossed in writing a new one.

Since I started taking part in the Surrey Artist Open Studios event, I have started selling art prints of my work as greetings cards, placemats and coasters, with more to follow. Visit the shop for more information!
